Sharon and Andy Pearce, your hosts.

Sharon and Andy Pearce took over as tennants of The Great Western Arms in 2005. Sharon had been working at the C&G at their head office in Gloucester since leaving school but had always had part-time jobs in various pubs and restaurant’s during her spare time. When she was younger her grandparents kept a pub in the village of Much Marcle, Herefordshire, and Sharon spent many happy hours collecting glasses and living the pub life.

After leaving school Andy joined the RAF. He left the service in 1999 and had various jobs before seeing an advert to become a publican. The Great Western Arms is Sharon and Andy’s first pub having fallen in love with the village on their first visit.

Since arriving at the Great Western Sharon & Andy have worked hard to put the pub at the heart of the village. When the old shop and post office closed Sharon & Andy sold papers from the pub until the new shop was up and running. Many quiz nights and events have been held at the pub to raise money for charity and they are currently trying to raise £5000 to name and train a puppy for Guide Dogs for the blind."

(Left) Andy with Lol who has lived in the village for most of her life and Kate. Lol is the assistant manager and is an important part of the business. Having such a wide knowledge of the village and surrounding area is an asset for the pub and it's visitor's who like to know some of the history.

In 2008 Andy and Sharon took on 2 beautiful Golden Retrievers called Charlie and Harvey who were 10 months old at the time and looking for a new home. Both are spoiled rotten by the pub life and love nothing more than lots of fuss.

Unfortunately Charlie has hip-displacia so is currently receiving treatment at Aquapadz who provide hydro-therapy for dogs. Since beginning his treatment Charlie has gained a number of centimetres of muscle around his hip which has helped his walking enormously. If you would like any further information about Aquapadz, please phone Ian Dickinson on: 01242 244210.

We hope that if you are either staying or visiting the area you will take time to come and see us, we look forward to seeing you.
